My 3D Printer Journey
Well, I have begun. The Pittsburgh FreeCycle group recently had an offer for a 3D printer. Unfortunately, the person who put up the offer has not responded to any of my requests for his printer. So, I just posted a "Wanted" announcement for a printer with preferably larger than 200x200x200 mm. We shall see what happens, but, after reading these threads (especially Joe's great saga - https://zappbots.altervista.org/forum/v ... f=28&t=320,) I would really love to be able to start printing cases, and other parts for some projects that have been floating around in my head.

Re: My 3D Printer Journey
I love my Elegoo Neptune 2 and 2D printers, while I haven't used the 2D at all yet, its basically the Neptune 2 with an added 2nd extruder!
I just looked on their site and there are preowned ones they are selling, as low as $59 for the Neptune 2https://www.elegoo.com/collections/pre-owned-3d-printer
I have had small issues with both of the ones I got, but the customer service is TOP and fixed it NO COST to me! One was a hot plate issue, other was a touch screen issue, both had been still usable even though had bad part.

Yeah, your enthusiasm is what got me interested in pursuing this.jknightandkarr wrote:I love my Elegoo Neptune 2 and 2D printers, while I haven't used the 2D at all yet, its basically the Neptune 2 with an added 2nd extruder!
I did see that earlier, but when I clicked on it, the price is $139 (good, but not really affordable unless I qualify for full VA disability income; SS disability just barely covers our billsjknightandkarr wrote:I just looked on their site and there are preowned ones they are selling, as low as $59 for the Neptune 2https://www.elegoo.com/collections/pre-owned-3d-printer

That service is another reason that I want to get one of the Elegoo printers (although, at this point I would settle for anything that worked.jknightandkarr wrote:I have had small issues with both of the ones I got, but the customer service is TOP and fixed it NO COST to me! Re: My 3D Printer Journey
I just saw that they do have a Neptune 2S for $119 shape in "Good" condition - which means that it should work, but may be missing screws/nuts/bolts or other minor parts.
Still a bit out of budget, but maybe someday soon.
I need to get busy selling some more of my antiques. Anyone in need of a C=>64? (Condition unknown.

Re: My 3D Printer Journey
Whats all there and how much? I used to have one, but never really used it, something fun to learn, or if you happen to have an XP or older pc laptop, I'd also love that for old pc gaming. lol

Re: My 3D Printer Journey
Unfortunately, that's the rub. We moved four months ago, and I still do not have a workshop (long story, and it's driving me crazy - no outlet for the huge stress.) All of my old computers, and electronics stuff is piled up in the basement. I have to rely on my (not so reliable) memory.jknightandkarr wrote:Whats all there and how much?
I know that I have a couple XP laptops/notebooks, but don't remember where they are. I can probably get one in the near future, if you would like.jknightandkarr wrote:I used to have one, but never really used it, something fun to learn, or if you happen to have an XP or older pc laptop, I'd also love that for old pc gaming. lol
I do have (handy) a Zenith Z-Star EX, which is a 486. How much would either this, or an XP, be worth (in cash or trade) to you?

mem command - 4MB RAM (expandable to 20 IIRC)

chkdsk command (200 MD HD)
The entire screen is actually good, the top looks washed out due to the lighting.
There is no battery for this, the power supply fits inside the computer where the (very expensive) battery would go, and a power cord plugs into that while in the computer.

Re: My 3D Printer Journey
I really need to get MY 3D Printer put together...it's so sad that it has been sitting inside the box for 2 years, never even put together.
I'm only responsible for what I say, not what you understand.
