New toy! Elegoo Neptune 2
FINALLY go my newest 3d printer the Elegoo Neptune 2! $170 will get you a pretty GREAT machine. Haven't even leveled bed yet or printed but so far I am mindblown! Extruded ALUMINUMN FRAME, heated bed, removeable build plate, touch screen, filament sensor, bowden ext, spool holder, print continue feature (like if power goes out during print job) semiautomatic bed level (machine moves around for ya), control board might have option to add a 2nd extruder (need to verify) and finally a complete tool kit to build and maintain it! If you can find one GET IT!!! Included assembly vid also shows how to get rid of axis wiggle, going to do then level bed then print using the included Ultimaker cura ssoftware. My machine's frame is litterally ROCKSOLID! Uprights 3/4" x 1.5" stock and preassembled base uses 1.5" x 1.75" stock. Assembly is seriously super simple. Maybe 10-20 min at most before you even level bed. Base, extruder, x-z axis motor and opposite z bearing sections all pre assembled! Hell most of the wiring is done minus few plug ins and is in braded cover and only one zip tie attachment is needed to secure wires. Can NOT beat this machine for its cost!

Re: New toy! Elegoo Neptune 2
Well, have done a couple of good prints, first just a button, nothing special, but I printed what came with it, a little Buddha figure. I am seriously amazed at how AMAZING it came out. practically perfect, though the hair on the very top could be a little better, just a couple of trim spots, but other then that, I've literally done NOTHING as far as settings go. I really stand by what I said about this machine. HOW the heck does this only cost like $170???!!! HOW??? It's an amazing machine.
Forgot one feature, it has filament detection ability and after looking at control board a 2nd extruder is possible along with what I assume to be a WIFI socket for something. I've included a link to a file for VERY detailed info on what looks like ALL parts of the machine, even parts llike the frame parts and circuit board details.

Edit: Yeah, VERY detailed info..... even on the wires.... ROTF when you have a mechanical drawing for a SINGLE WIRE..... THATS what ya call attention to details. lol

Well first longish print. A dragon on a pedistal. Took like 2 hrs n 40 min, but came out perfict, other then VERY minor stringing, which I might be able to remove with only a toothbrush. Learning to get past the prints not sticking to print, but still VERY happy with this machine!

Very cool! I am waiting to get rid of a glass L-Desk so I can put in a bench capable of holding the 3D printer and the Laser Cutter. Once I get the bench in I will get the 3D Printer set up and at least do some test prints.
Are you just printing 3D models that are already complete? Or have you tried doing a custom part? What software are you using?

Re: New toy! Elegoo Neptune 2
So far just using models on thingiverse or ones i already had. It comes with its own version of Cura, which is what i am using. I just finished a multipurpose test, which tests overhangs and bridges. Which did pretty well. There was one section under the overhangs that failed, printed at 75% size to reduce print time. Measurement sections should be 7.5 mm for my print size. I got x=7.36mm, y=7.52mm and z=7.68mm, so not too bad, but could be better if your worried about that.

Re: New toy! Elegoo Neptune 2
Well on my new printer filament spool # one like 98% done, so picked up grey PLA+, a bronze pla and a lt blue sparkly pla. Have done a few jobs for friends, and one happy got his airsoft gun accessories and fit, working well and the 2nd guy did a star trek original series kit for a phaser, and he's overjoyed by it! got an order for an Aliens plasma rifle prop for him too. Right now doing this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2719531 It's a Frost Dragon from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in that lt blue filament. I am pretty sure I could light it up from bottom and look sweet. Over all only issue I had was occasionally having to re-level the hot bed, which really isn't that big of a deal. Also learned using glue sticks help adhesion to bed, BUT need the white glue sticks, NOT the purple. The purple WON'T adhere at all. SOO LOVE THIS PRINTER!!
Joe
Oh and alittle printer bling bling may have been done. LOL Fallout series decor. Going to attach to the printer.

It's interesting when people do these large models from multiple smaller parts. I really need to read up how some of these are assembled.
