Tried using my ext hard drive I got from Chris years ago, wouldn't work, after a short check, I noticed my USB 3.x exp card wasn't plugged into my power supply, so today, I plugged it in, and after turning the computer on, and 2 releases of magic smoke and one round of a small fire, I managed to get pc into sleep mode..... (Motherboard damaged, leds, fans at 100% and power on circuits, its hard to turn on), pulled out my card and one of the IC driver chips nuked itself..... I gotta stop buying cheep stuff.......
PC is ok btw.... still working as I use it.

Well, I'm glad that the computer is still working. Was it just the USB exp card that died, or was it the hard drive?
Also, what is the exp card? Is is a USB-to-TTl/serial/etc. card, or something else?

I see. I was thinking of the other way: USB to some kind of I/O, like GPIO. I'm glad that it wasn't too expensive. Hope you can find the hub soon.
