Commodore C128 Computer

Postby zappman » Wed Sep 08, 2021 8:38 am

I just located one of my Commodore C128 Computers that has been stored away in a box for over ten years :) . Image
(picture is not my C128)
the power supply for the C128 was also in the box :D , as was a dual mode video cable (with built in mode switch) composite / RGB :D . Also in the box was an Excelerator + Plus 5.25" Disc Drive Image (picture is not my drive), too bad mine is missing its power supply :( .
The missing power supply should look similar to this one Image but have a 120 Vac inut.

The box also contained several original games on floppy disks: Aliens, Conquest, Ghostbusters II, Tass Times in Tonetown a Hacker II The Doomsday Papers. Only one cartridge was in the box, an Explode! V3.0 with Hyper Load and Convert.

Does the C128 boot up? Function? What are your plans for it?

P.S. - If that is the power supply for the drive in the photo, that would be easy to build from scratch.

My plan for the C128 is to see if it is working, I have not had time yet to do so. If it functions, I would like to use it to play some retro games, then maybe do so some upgrades to it. If it does not function, a project would be to repair it, then I could use it.

Yes, I may have to build a power supply for the disk dive. But, first I need to look through my box (boxes) of power adapters to see if I actually already have it. Seems like I never have those things labeled with what they go with.

Yes, the C128 is booting up, I can run a a short BASIC program, in both the C64 and the C128 mode.

Nice! I spent years looking for a C128. It was always my favorite because of the Z80, but they're so expensive and the one I took a chance on had a bad keyboard.

I think there are some repro options out there. Atleast from what I've seen on the 8-bit Guy's channel.

Nice find. I have a 128, but it is missing a key, and I don't have a power supply for it.
