Just another Christmas Project

Postby Electrons-R-Fun » Wed Dec 28, 2016 4:18 pm

This is my first completed project since my eyesight changed. I wanted to see how well I could still soldier and put together a project. I also wanted to try to make a LED project with no resistors to see how well that goes.

This project uses three 4017 decade counters with one 555 astable (multi vibrator) sending pulses to the counters in parallel and an inverter chip for the 10mm common anode LED. I used 3 differnt type of LED's. The one in the "glass candle holder" is a diffused 10mm red, green, blue, common anode, the ones on the side are 5mm diffused and the remaining front ones are flat top 3mm clears.

The project took several hours to build and I had to drill holes into the side and bottom of the decoration to feed the LED's through.

The electronics run on 4 AA wired in series (6 ish volts) and has been running non stop for 5 days now.

Great job ErF :)

Xmas offers a easy time to play with LEDs in projects. Im building with some RGB LEDs myself right now, should be posting hopefully soon with a new completed project.
